about

Deliberaty slowed down, mellow covers of Beatles songs. I got the idea to do this when I randomly shuffled through The Beatles Complete Chord Songbook and slowly played “Eight Days A Week” on my Martin acoustic guitar, musing about whatever and having a conversation with my wife. I thought: this is a nice approach to do some covers on the songs I so like. These songs have minimal arrangements and just feature my Martin road series acoustic, Gibson G-45 acoustic, Valencia classical guitar, Lanikai baritone ukulele and my vocals. Daria Pomnitz played a wonderful dark piano rendition for “Yesterday”. For “When I’m Sixty-Four” I scored new parts for cimbalom and piano (blasphemy! you’re not George Martin!). For “And I Love Her” I skipped the final part and composed an entirely new alternative ending (blasphemy! you’re not… aahh). I hope you like it. Play it on a Sunday morning. And don’t forget to get the bonus track ("Not A Second Time" with distorted electric guitars, yeah!)!
